Slipped Stitches

A small group of knitters with a range of knitting experiences - from the wise Maple Girl to the careful and fresh faced Sauce, and the full throttle knit or die style of Sly. Enjoy our varied projects and thoughts, and if you don't have anything nice to say...well...you know.

Blast!

Alright. I'm ready to snap. My tension is totally off with this orange sweater. The wool is nice, but shows every little bubble. I hope my tension improves - it looks like crap right now. Whyyyyy?
BTW, where is everyone?

Ta-daa...

Where is everybody??

Well, the socks are done. What a relief - the tiny needles were making me wake up with hand cramps...I'll never make socks with wool this small ever again. And really, when am I going to wear socks that took so long and are so delicate? Only when my feet are up, I suppose.

Woo!!

So close, I can smell them

I'm close to finishing my other sock. Ok, perhaps not close - more like, I've turned the heel, and am shaping my instep. I will not rest until that blasted sock is done. Neither heat, nor rain, nor sleet, nor marking...will keep me from my sock.

The Sauce's Knitting Natter

Ok, I feel compelled to also do an inventory - and it won't take long.

Since we've started I've finished: one beautiful black and grey Keyhole Scarf and one colorful Striped Hat for Mike that is a bit too small (or his head is too big). Notice my use of adjectives that take the place of other completed projects. Both of these were from Stitch and Bitch. I have also made numerous left mitts, but never right ones.

I've currently started: Alien Invasion Scarf (I'm about 1/3 done) with a knit/purl pattern that makes alien face patterns. I have to really pay attention so it's taking me forever. Grey and Green Striped Sweater (incalculably small amount completed), both from Stitch and Bitch. The sweater is on needles so small they are practically invisible. In the spirit of actually finishing something I've started a Red Poodle Scarf like Sylvia's. I'm about 3 inches in, so hopefully, fingers crossed I can move this up to the completed projects section/paragraph/sentence before the end of 2004 (it is supposed to be a xmas present after all, no pressure).

About to start/bought wool for: Hooded Sweater (Light pink, dark pink with black stripe) from Stitch and Bitch. One a shopping trip to the Big City, I also bought wool for a Grey and White hat, and Brown wool vest. Both of these were patterns from Knitty.com.

Checking in

So...I was ill today and left work. I never feel good about going home, but sometimes it's the best thing, I guess. Since I started knitting this spring, I've produced a few projects (helps to be off for the summer...):
  1. Pink wool ribbed scarf (from the Sauce's Stitch n Bitch book)
  2. 3 Chemotherapy caps (two cotton, one acrylic/wool) (from http://www.headhuggers.org)
  3. Big scarf for Randy
  4. "Skully" sweater (S n B)
  5. Finally finished some mittens (pattern from my mom's head)
  6. Winter cap (pattern from my head...a bit pointy but ok)
  7. Striped scarf and hat (S n B)
  8. Scarf for me! (pooooodle wool)

Current projects - Jaquard wool socks (love them, but the wool is so small!); V neck sweater (see below). I hope this doesn't sound braggy...it's meant to be more of an inventory. Incidentally, I'm having a hard time keeping my guage even with the orange wool. I can't figure it out. I'll get Miss G and the Sauce to look at it.

I'm IN?

Hey Ladies!

After much trial and tribulation I think I'm IN the blog! It's almost midnight, so I'm just in the nick of time to still post today. Thanks to Sly for getting this started! Let's plan to fill up the Blog with pics and stories this weekend. Goodnight fellow knitters!

last one I promise

I'm just testing my new persona...who am I now?

oh oh...me next!

Yes...I too purchased much yarn. I am so very very happy with my balls of orange Austrian superwash wool - 2 bucks each!! How could I not buy 15 balls of it? V-neck from knitty.com, here I come. I bought some size 5.5 mm needles, and they were metal - what a pleasant surprise! I think our next foray (once we get some projects done) should be into the world of bamboo needles. Here's my stuff so far (oh, sweet orange wool).

The beginning of "V"...

So much wool...(it's from Austria...eeeee!)

I'm such a nrrrd.

and it begins!

Neat! My first blog ever. Hats (warm knit toques, that is) off to Sly for making sure an idea became reality. On November 13, three knitty gals took a road trip to buy gear in a city with better selection. 250 km later, lips shiny with donut glaze and veins coursing with coffee, this blog was born.

Miss G's November 13 purchases:

- yellow, black and bright pink yarn for hooded sweater
- wool of unspecified colour for mystery xmas gift for unspecified person
- multi burgundy, sage and dark green yarn for toque and mitts
- aluminum needles in happy colours

The aluminum needles are great for the synthetic yarns. I'll never go plastic again!
Pictures of projects in progress coming soon.

Miss G.

Baby's first blog!

My first blog! Eeee! I'm shy now.
I'll come up with something soon...perhaps something from the ladies?
